Portes du soleil

UP

The Portes du Soleil (literally translated as ‘Door to the Sun') is one of the hidden gems of the Alps when it comes to summer holidays and offers visitors a unique combination of activities in a region untainted by mass tourism. This region, encompassing 13 villages on either side of the Franco-Swiss border, is better known for its extensive winter sports but in summer the landscapes are equally spectacular. From the tranquillity of the lakes and carpets of wild flowers to the jagged peaks of the snow-capped mountains, every view is different and worthy of a photograph. The natural beauty of the region could give the impression of it being inaccessible and remote, but nothing could be further from the truth. At little over an hour from Geneva International Airport the Portes du Soleil can be a great choice for a long weekend or short break.

There really is something for everyone in terms of activities whether you are an adrenalin junkie, a culture buff, a sports person or someone in need of a relaxing escape from city life. You will find further details of activity suggestions on this website, but suffice to say the list is endless and a week in the Portes du Soleil will leave you wanting more.
