Chalet Description

When we first visited this beautiful property in 2009 as a recently constructed chalet we knew that it was a winner. In the years that followed it quickly became, and remains to this day, our most popular chalet, achieving almost 100% occupancy every season. We attribute the popularity of Chery des Meuniers to the perfect blend of quality modern fittings with the traditional Alpine setting that we all look for in a chalet holiday. Space is a big feature of this chalet, both inside with its open plan design and family sized bedrooms, and outside as it sits in its own grounds next to the river in the former slate mining hamlet of Les Meuniers with far-reaching views including Mont Chery (making sense of the name of the chalet!).

Sleeping up to 16 in 5 bedrooms, Chery des Meuniers is suitable for big sole occupancy groups or bookings by the room. With convenient links to the skiing on both sides of the valley, tranquil surroundings and at a walkable distance from the old town this chalet is equally suitable for families, powder hounds and party animals! Your stay needn’t cost the earth either as our 3rd and 4th bed discounts in the spacious bedrooms apply to all ages, not just children!

The ski bus that stops at the end of the driveway will whisk you home from the slopes of Morzine or Avoriaz in 5 minutes and once you’ve dropped off your skis in the ground floor boot room our delicious homemade cakes await you upstairs! Alternatively, you could change shoes and head straight back out to build a snowman or go sledging in the wide open spaces that surround the chalet! This may appeal more to younger visitors whereas the suntrap terrace overlooking the river is the perfect spot for grown-ups to enjoy a cold beer whilst taking in the spectacular views of some of the highest peaks of the Chablais region.

The huge open-plan living/dining area on the first floor has ample soft seating for everyone and it is easy to unwind by watching a DVD or some satellite television on the large flat-screen TV. The owner of the chalet is a real craftsman and no expense has been spared on a beautiful interior that includes several bespoke pieces of furniture. As the exertions of the day catch up with you, the soothing effect of the magnificent log-burning stove will do nothing to fend off the temptation to have a nap whilst our Chalet Host prepares a delicious 4 course evening meal! The top floor of the chalet boasts a peaceful den area with extra seating and a second television, making it the ideal spot to read a book, catch up with some work courtesy of our free WiFi internet access, or to simply banish the kids when grown-ups want to enjoy their meal in peace!

All five bedrooms boast traditional Savoyard decor to give a perfect blend of homeliness, cosiness and ensuite facilities (either in the form of a traditional bathroom or a cabin-style wet room with relaxing showers). The bedrooms are spread over all three floors of the chalet and in stark contrast to most recently constructed chalets they are all exceptionally spacious. The quad and triple rooms contain all full-size single beds (no folding beds or bunks), making them suitable for families or groups of adults wishing to take advantage of our generous 3rd and 4th bed discounts. With this pricing structure you can enjoy a catered week at this gorgeous property from as little as £455 per person or a 3 night break from just £250.

What can we arrange for you ?

As well as making sure that your accommodation and food meets and exceeds your expectations we can help to remove most of the usual stresses associated with a ski holiday. There's so much to think about but once you have booked your stay with us we will gladly guide you through the minefield of airport transfers, ski passes, equipment rental, ski lessons and so forth. Take a look at the "My Holiday" section of this site for more comprehensive information and if anything isn’t clear just give us a shout! We work with carefully selected partners in resort to make sure that we are recommending the best options at the best prices.

We understand that ski holidays are not cheap and that’s why it is important to pick a company that will go the extra mile for you. We pride ourselves on our personalised professionalism.

Transport in Resort

We don't provide lifts to the slopes or back from town as all of our chalets are conveniently located near a free ski bus stop, giving you the freedom to come and go as you please.

However, if you need an evening taxi to get back from town or would like us to arrange a taxi every morning to the cable cars we will gladly book these for you in resort or in advance. Depending on the time of day a taxi from the centre of resort to the chalet will be around €20 for an 8 seater minibus.

Childcare

We are always happy to welcome younger guests to our chalets and understand the expense involved with a family ski holiday. To that end we have some of the biggest child reductions in the area and can tailor our service to help Mum and Dad by suppling cots, stair gates, high chairs etc in all chalets. Each chalet has a safe outside space in which children can enjoy building snowmen!

We also offer a children's menu in all chalets. Our approach to this is simple; we have a chat with you about your children's diet to find out what they like and what they don't like. We usually offer the same menu as the parents but simplified and with no strong flavours. For example with the Tartiflette, we will use less garlic, less onion, no wine, less reblochon (smelly local cheese) but more bacon, more Emmental and green beans or carrots as a side dish. However we are happy to do any of the classic children's favourites such as fish fingers, cottage pie, spaghetti bolognaise … and there is always plenty of tomato sauce in stock!

Should you wish for your little ones to be looked after (either in the comfort of the chalet or the local snow garden) we can help you to make arrangements. There are plenty of great childcare options in the area.

NANNY SERVICES

Jack Frost's:

A well run and highly professional British nanny agency that can either offer a service in the comfort of the chalet or collect the children from their ski lessons. The nanny brings a selection of toys, arranges a whole range of fun activities during the week and can cook a simple and healthy lunch. They can arrange to do some baby-sitting during the evenings too.

Cheeky Monkeys:

Another British-run company based in Morzine. They can care for your children in the holiday chalet or they can also provide a pick up and drop off service for children in ski school. The nanny brings a selection of toys suitable for all ages and the nanny will have a selection of activities arranged for your children during the week.

Piou-Piou club:

From 3 years old. This is the nursery club of the French Ski School (ESF) in Morzine. Children are looked after in a "snow kindergarten" or on the slopes by ESF instructors. When the children are not partaking in skiing activities, the team of instructors will provide fun indoor and outdoor activities, depending on the weather.

L'Outa Nursery:

This fully accredited creche in Morzine looks after children from 3 months old to 5 years and is run by a non-profit organisation. It has a dedicated baby room for children under 16 months old with feeding stations, changing rooms and beds. Older children benefit from play rooms, a dining room and a great outdoor playground.

Evening meal on Chalet Day off

Morzine has a great culinary tradition and the world is your oyster! When you arrive, we will be more than happy to chat about your preferences, recommend and book a restaurant table for you.

Morzine tourist office also offers a great directory of all the restaurants in town.

- Our cuisine --

"Our cuisine follows a simple philosophy; Hearty meals carefully prepared with fresh local produce"

Sylvie, like most Belgians, is passionate about good food and has an excellent palate. She has put this to good use in order to create a menu which is a perfect blend of British, Belgian and Savoyard cuisine. The local specialities such as traditional Tartiflette or a classic French Onion Soup are an important part of our menus, but you will also discover some out of the ordinary dishes such as our Speculoos (caramelised biscuit) Tiramisu or the ‘Carbonades flamandes' (Belgian beef stew), interspersed with comforting British classics such as apple crumble and chicken pie.

The evening menu will be written up each morning and if we have been unfortunate enough to pick something you don’t like just let us know. At the end of the day, the most important thing for us is that you enjoy your food. This is your holiday, not ours!
